Introduction of a madmoth, STREET TEAM. and updates
Alritey!
so since reopening Galleryofaclown.com I have seen some awesome bits of interest. First off thanks to everyone who has visited as in the first two weeks of operation I have already seen more than 1,000 viewers! If you have yet to see it please stop in, I swear you'll love it. Second off, those of you that have visited please spread the word, this has been so much fun and I just want to share my hard work with as many people as possible.
Now I know some links are still not working or have not been finished but trust me, things are always in the working. I have the first contest that will most likely happen sometime this summer. It'll involve (guess what) clowns of some sort. There might be a scavenger hunt at some point (as I am notorious for a good ole' hunt).
The MadMoth link is an interesting bit. I have a lot of questions concerning "wtf is mADmOTH?!" (YES spelled just like that). Well, for the last 8 years I have been working on a comic character of that namesake. It began long ago but it is still fresh in my mind everyday. I had him copyrighted sometime back and I hope that this will become a monthly comic for "GOAC". All will be made more clear as I get closer to things. All I can say is it will blow some minds, piss a few people off, but what doens't now adays?!?!
Lastly, schwag such as stickers and tshirts and hoodies will be soon avialable in CIRQUE (the blue clown). Cirque being french for circus is the unofficial name of the clothing line I wish to start. That type of stuff will be made available as soon as my fund grow from some upcoming commissions. In the meantime if there is anyone interested in helping out and being part of the street team then send me an email. I'll explain it later though, I like to keep you guys guessing.
THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT THUS FAR!!!!

Latest show/gallery and other fun stuff
Hey all,
So here's the scoop. Recently I was part of a show in Plantsville. It was an open call for artists and I was able to submit a piece of work to possibly be hung for a show. Well, lo and behold I got accepted by the gallery. It was a great collection of work from artists and congrats to any winners (it was a juried show). Thanks a bunch as well to the gallery. The name of the gallery is Paris in Plantsville and they are a small collective of artists who rent the space out for shows, lessons, etc. They do a great job and I would also like to extend my thanks to Jordan Deschene who is one of their resident artists and a very warm welcoming dude. He made things seem more welcoming than other galleries I've attended who have the avantgard attitude that makes artists seem negaqtive to the outside viewer. He and his crew seem way more hospitable than the average gallery and it made for a night of positive vibes. Thanks again guys. Below is the work I chose to submit. I don't think I need to explain, it's mainly a studio throwback that I thought would be fun to share. In the menatime, visit their website @ ParisinPlantsville.com. Great artists and things happening there.
In other news, the last welcome to Bohemia show was very fun indeed!!! It was held at Billings Forge in Hartford (another gallery/collective) and was hosted by the Libertine Collective. I was asked to be MC for the show. And though I have never done and MC gig before I was more than excited and glad to give it a go. I'll admit I was nervous at first but I loosened up early on and I think I did an alright job. ANYONE NEED AN MC?! I can add that to my list of activities now. Seriously, I love talking and in front of crowd is fun and it was something that was so much more fun than I though it would be.
But anywho, the show itself was spectacular. There was artwork from some CT artists like Corey Pane and H.L. Groen, there was live music from The kelvins and others, and amazing work from spoken word artists such as Summer Tate. ALSO Sugati was there to share her AMAZING dancing skills, always a wicked treat. Great Night I think the next one will be just as good if not better.
UPCOMING: the website is getting closer to complete. Problem now is the two sites I'm currently trying to run are intertwined and running each other's info by mistake. SO once I fix that this week I'll have the grand re-opening.
I'm going to Denver, CO soon for a weekish excursion with the Helix magazine. We'll attending the AWP conference, basically a huge conference of writer's and such. I'm thinking it's going to be ridiculously fun. The Spring issue is on it's way, by the way.
I'll post photos once I take em. I'll keep everyone in the know.
Lastly, I think It's almost time to start sharing some of my characters from the comic I've been working on for 8 years and I think I'm ready to get publishing. Maybe next posting. Until next time kids, I'll leave you with this thought:
"I've won grammys, I've met the Queen of England, and I've met the President of the United States, and what did I do? I was just being myself."
-paraphrased from Ozzy Osbourne (go out and get his autobiography, it's amazing)

Work for friends, Libertine update, art art art
Hellooooooo all!
Just so you know the website IS ALMOST BACK UP AND RUNNING......almost. BUT things are looking on the bright side. It is getting closer and closer and I can feel it. In the meantime I would like to share some work done this past December that were done for some very good friends.
The first bit of work I waited to post since I recently was able to give this piece to Jay. As an early wedding gift I decided I would experiment more with some stenciling in a portrait I did of Jay and Jenna. I figured that the original photo I worked from was such a great photo that they would love this.
I worked my tuckus off making the stencil and even had to ease the shadows in Jay's face and Jenna's cheeks. If I hadn't they would've had a case of Heath Ledger Joker eyes!!!
Either way this work came out great. I think I may try to do more things like this. I do have some other pictures in mind that I think would look great in this style. So, hopefully over summer I'll have the chance to do so.
The second piece is something I did for a friend, Stephanie of a purple mini dragon. The name of the piece is "Stealing Sakura for her Tea". I basically thought let's make a dragon but make it seem smaller than usual. In antiquity dragon's are supposed to be huge so I thought this take on it would be fun.
Stephanie was pretty stoked about this.
SO, for further updates I would like you to know that the new Helix is currently in progress and still accepting submissions. It's going great so far and this issue is going to be an extra special issue. We have some work we will be recieving from kids out of a Hartford elementary school. Their work will be welcomed and I can't wait to see this come together with the other submissions. Also the cover is done BUT I'm not sharing that yet, you just gotta wait!
The new issue of In the Cut art magazine is on it's way as well so if you need an issue ask me. Quick reminder I was recently added to the street team of this publication and I deliver issues to places for viewing. It's an awesome and FREE magazine. Hopefully I'll be able to contribute.
Lastly, Upcoming is another installment of Welcome to Bohemia in Hartford Billings Forge. If you ant more info go check out the Libertine Collectives website and/or facebook page. It's a fun event with live art, music, and work from other CT artists. I might be jumping in to play some percussion as well so come check it out March 20th.
Until next time friends, stay toasty, and enjoy the nice weather!

HELIX MAGAZINE FALL 2009!!!
So for those of you who may not already know I was hired as the Artistic Director of an arts and literary magazine known as "The Helix". This publication is a student run organization at Central Connecticut State University since 1855-ish......I can't remember the exact date. Well a friend of mine (Luis) who is part oft he staff knew they needed a new graphic artist to create the layout for the magazine and so he sought me out. I met Nicole Lalime the Editor in Chief, and now awesome friend, and she was diggin' my work from the get go. And so I was hired to direct the artsy side of the Helix.
My first job was to create a captivating cover design, I wanted to start out with something that I knew so I chose a design that alludes to my years studying tattoo art. Beginning as a side project, I took an idea and created an illustration of a Chinese story known as the Dragon's Gate:
The story tells a tale of a Koi fish who wishes to become dragon. The fish began his journey of swimming upstream (synonymous with American salmon) and was able to overcome adversity and jump over the falls of the dragon's gate( This "gate" being a waterfall as opposed to an actual gate). The fish transformed into the half dragon koi. But if the half creature wished to become a dragon then it would have to also swim out of the currents of the falls safely. After the koi reached this point it was able to transform out of the water and into a dragon and live the rest of it's life in the heavens.
This tale is one of my favorites!!! It is a story that has a great message of living your life to the fullest and never giving up so we may all one day become "dragons" in the heavens. As you can see in my illustration I used a style of drawing that has become unique to me. You have all seen this in my work before and I feel this particular work has helped me into transforming from artist to a better artist. I have much more to learn and for now this is one of my best works, but over time I will get better at what I do, such is the wish of any artist, be it writing or visual or musical. (NOTE: the image I have for this isn't what I'd like so when galleryofaclown.com is up and running you'll find a high red and BETTER version there!)
Along with this cover I also was in charge of formatting the entire issue into the form of a book as well as heading up decisions on what art would be accepted into the issue. Well, the fall issue came out as a great success, to the point where we already need back orders, since they are all GONE!!! lol I am currently working on the new SPRING edition which will revolve around vintage posters from Circus'. I love clowns....DUH! so I feel the whimsy of Spring could be captivated with such subject matter with a juxtaposition of a dark atmosphere. You'll see what I mean soon.
If anyone is interested in submitting poetry, stories, art etc for the Spring Helix please send an email with your files to Helixmagazine@gmail.com. We accept jpegs @ 300 dpi and.doc files for you writers. Until next time...
...HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY LOVE ERIN ROSE!!!! and a happy start to the St. Patty's Season!
